For the last 6(?) years, World Press Photo has been coming to Brisbane. It's brilliant. I'm thankful to the person that made it come to Brisbane in the first place..it's something you'd expect my little city to miss out on. This exhibit travels the world.. and it comes to Brisbane? Amaze. The exhibit is held at the Brisbane Powerhouse, a converted (you guessed it!) powerhouse that holds various art events. Live music, comedy, dance.
The WPP exhibit opened last week and I thought I'd go on Tuesday, when I had a day off. I took my new brown ankle boots and wandered into the deserted Powerhouse grounds. I never visit the Powerhouse on weekdays and all the WPP exhibits I've been too have featured sooo many other people and lots of noise because I've visited on a Saturday. Tuesday was quite. There was one other person looking at the exhibit. It was fantastic! If you're in BNE and considering going please do. If you're overseas and the exhibit is coming to your city, please go see it! It's a really wonderful display of photojournalism and chronicles our world in an often eye-opening and heartbreaking way.
Downstairs exhibition room. EMPTY! So lovelly to wonder around and take my time.
